So death has stepped out of the shadows again, and left taking two more I know. That was in my previous journal. Funerals were as funerals are. Those that weep, generally weep for themselves for the loss they have suffered and the times they will miss. Those that show up for free food and drinks, well, free drinks will bring in nearly everyone I know.

And so, life goes on for some of us. But death is never far behind is she? Naw, it’s right in our own shadow, ready to step out and take us when we least expect it. Or jump out and force the issue if we are the walking dead like my cousin was. I don’t blame him or think less of him. I know what he was going through and I’ve felt that kind of loss. Why I manage to keep waking up and he couldn’t will just be one of those mysteries of life I guess.

When all hope is gone, when love has left you behind, when everything you held dear is taken away and you’re left alone with a bottle and no future in sight and dreams that have survived and no goals that were set, the peaceful slumber of the hereafter sure sounds like a hell of a good thing.

Yet some of us march on, suffering more day after day, week after week, month after month and I have no answer why when there is no longer enough life left in you to fear death.

If you have it, you don't need it.
If you need it, you don't have it.
If you have it, you need more of it.
If you have more of it, you don't need less of it.
You need it, to get.
And you certainly need it to get more of it.
But if you don't already have any of it to begin with, you can't get any of it to get started which means, you really have no idea how to get it in the 1st place.
Do you?
You can share it, sure.
You can even stock pile it if you'd like.
But you can't fake it.
Wanting it, needing it, wishing for it, the point is, if you've never had any of it, ever, people just seem to know.
